God Bless Rony!

God Bless Rony Ixcot, my friend, killed in Guatemala City. May 2007.
One of the kindest souls to pass our lifetime, a person who honestly cared more about everyone around him than himself, someone who always made sure everyone was smiling. Successful, talented, intelligent and with a big heart, Rony always called to make sure I was ok or to see if I needed anything. Yet, it is obvious where his kindness comes from…his amazing family, his mother, sister and brother, who made me feel right at home from the beginning. Rony was a world traveler. He visited most of Europe, Israel, Canada, the United States, and my favorite picture of him, that sits in the family room of his home, was him sitting in front of Petra in Jordan. Rony spent time with my sister and nephew and my friend Rachel, always volunteering to drive me to the airport to get them and have the first dinner in Antigua as they settled into Guatemalan life. I thank him so much for that. Although he was a person I did not for a long time in my life, he was one of those people that automatically fits in deep inside. The world needs people like Rony Ixcot and I will miss him.

Hi Anne. The seeds of bravery and courage are what people like Rony leave us to carry on in the work we are here to do. I look forward to seeing you and hearing more about the developments of your life and your work in Chocola
